YELLOW BRICK ROAD MUSIC

As a teacher, your daily to-do list is long, and sometimes overwhelming. You might even look back over an entire month and wonder if you accomplished anything at all. I can relate to those feelings, which is why I started setting and reflecting small monthly goals. I think it’s important that we acknowledge all that we’ve accomplished, while also recognizing areas that need improvement.

I also think that it’s easy for us to put our own physical and emotional health on the back-burner. That’s why my goals are specifically health-related. I hope this post inspires you to reflect on your own health, and the small goals you’d like to set for yourself each month. Check the bottom of the post to see how you can join me.

Last month I set only one goal for myself, which was to reflect on my achievements. During my second month of working on this goal, I discovered that this is not a small goal for me. It’s a HUGE goal, and one that I need to work on continuously. So, let’s consider it a longterm goal and move on to this month’s small goals:

Remember to stretch after walking

Now that the weather is nice-ish, I’ve been walking outside. This is a huge plus for me, because I really don’t enjoy the treadmill. I prefer the fresh air. However, I’ve noticed that my flexibility has really tanked since last year, so I’d like to do some stretches after walking, when my muscles are warmed up. I might even squeeze in five minutes of yoga during this time. This video is one of my favorites. I even featured it in last month’s newsletter.

Eat fruits. Not salsa.

Remember that ear issue I’ve been having? Well, the ENT has advised that I go easy on the salt. So, I’m going to attempt replacing my chips and salsa with fruit. I struggle to change my eating habits, but I feel confident that I can do it. Plus, I’ll finally have something besides limes to add to my fruit bowl.

That’s it for this month’s goals. Remember, it’s quality over quantity. I’d much prefer to accomplish two goals than feel regret over three more goals that I didn’t even attempt. Join me in my goal-setting endeavors by linking up below.

If you’re a reader following my journey, what small goals did you achieve last month? What will be your focus this month?
