YELLOW BRICK ROAD MUSIC

Fall Favorites for Music Teachers

The ultimate favorite for me this fall is my website redesign. My friend Shelley, from Pitch Clips, made my vision for a user-friendly and beautiful website come to life. I designed how I wanted to look, and Shelley performed all of the coding magic to make it happen. Other than the look and layout, the biggest changes you’ll notice are the addition of my Etsy Shop link in my main menu and the ability to preview all of my TPT resources directly on my website. Keep reading to see all of my favorites this fall.

TECHNOLOGY

  • Goblin Tools Formalizer
    • All of the goblin tools are fantastic, but the formalizer is the one I find myself using most often. I tend to be blunt in my communication, which is off-putting to some people, especially in written communication. The formalizer helps me avoid miscommunication and adds those extra words that some people seem to like and interpret as friendly. <– see, that’s a sentence that needs the formalizer.
  • Muted.io
    • The amount of music education websites and apps continues to grow, and few have made me as excited as muted.io. There are SO many options that I couldn’t even fit them all in the screenshot. This website is an absolute playground for music students. I encourage you to check it out as soon as possible!
  • PowerPoint Tip
    • Having worked with PowerPoint A LOT over the last decade, I know quite a bit about it, but TikTok is always showing me new tips for making my presentations really stand out. Below is one of my favorite tips.
      • Note: You have to use Word Art for this to work, and also be sure to select the objects in the correct order.

ENTERTAINMENT

  • Behind Your Touch
    • If you would’ve told me that I’d be into a detective show in which the main character can see people’s futures by touching their butts…I would’ve believed you, because that’s exactly the kind of premise that makes me stop and take notice. Behind Your Touch is a wonderful mix of hilarious, touching, mysterious, and toward the end of the series, a bit dark. If you enjoy sweetness and mystery with fun supporting characters, you’ll love it!
  • Crash Landing On You
    • This dramedy made me crave Korean Fried Chicken and Soju. The way the show imagines how people from North Korea would react to South Korea (and vice versa) is equal parts hilarious and thought-provoking. I’ve already binged this show twice, mostly due to the amazing cast of supporting characters.
  • Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-Kun!
    • Despite its title, this anime is lighthearted and fun. I related to many of the characters; some because of their traumatic upbringing and resulting survival skills, and others because of their taller-than-average height and all the assumptions that go along with that. If you want a main character you can love and strong female characters who subvert expectations, this is it!
