Ice Cream Rhythms – rhythm lesson – music lesson – eighth notes – quarter notes

Ice Cream Rhythms is a free activity for practicing quarter notes and barred eighth notes. Students start with ice cream cones, where each cone is one beat and the scoops show how many sounds are on it. Then they read the same rhythms in stick notation, and since the notes aren’t labeled, you can use any counting system.
