Instrument Riddles gives students 20 riddles to solve, one for each instrument, as they review the instruments of the orchestra. You can use them as flashcards, a game, a scavenger hunt, or an assessment.

What’s included

  • 20 riddles: piccolo, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba, violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp, piano, guiro, claves, triangle, bell, and cymbals
  • 20 title slides and 20 picture slides, one for each instrument
  • An answer sheet for games or assessment
  • Directions for a scavenger hunt and other games

    My students loved this resource during music centers. I only wish they were smaller. Maybe 4 to a page, instead of one per page.

      **Editing this to let you know that you can print four riddles per page via the PDF file. To do this click file > print. In the print dialogue box, go to “layout”, then type in 4 where it says “pages per sheet”. Then click print. I hope this helps!

    Loved these riddles. First, grades 3-5 learned about a family of instruments then at the end the riddle was used as an assessment. Later, I pulled the riddles back out for a review. – The students had a blast testing their knowledge in a fun, unique, engaging way.
