This listening lesson helps students in grades 3–8 read and play triplet rhythms with Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata.” Students talk about the elements of music they hear, practice rhythms in iconic and stick notation, conduct, play a body percussion game, and compose with rhythm cards.

    I enjoyed this resource as a way of introducing triplets and quarter notes. I spent more time going into tempo, timbre and dynamics but it was a great outline for the Moonlight Sonata as part of preparing the music of Beethoven for our field trip to the symphony
