Music Symbol Riddles gives students in grades 3–5 20 riddles to solve, one for each note or symbol. You can use them as flashcards, a display, a riddle race, a scavenger hunt, or an assessment.

What’s included

  • 20 riddles: treble clef, bass clef, bar line, repeat sign, fermata, double bar line, quarter rest, half rest, whole rest, eighth note, quarter note, half note, dotted half note, whole note, sharp, flat, natural, time signature, key signature, and staff
  • 20 title slides and 20 picture slides, one for each symbol
  • An answer sheet for the scavenger hunt or assessment
  • Directions for review, a riddle race, a scavenger hunt, and assessment
