Years ago, I paid little attention to my emotional or physical health. I felt like it was selfish to pay attention to my health when my students and friends seemed more deserving of my time and energy. Sound familiar?

For me, it was a dangerous mindset, and one that I’m glad I’ve changed. However, I’m a work in progress. It’s tough to balance what’s best for everyone else, while still taking care of my emotional and physical health. As I list my small goals for the month, I hope you’ll try keeping yourself in mind. Think about the small things you could do to make yourself feel better. And if you’re so inclined, please share them in the comments section. I would love to have some more small goals inspiration!
Here are the small goals I set for myself last month:

WALK

Despite the cold, I did manage to get in several walking sessions. And the best part was, I caught up a little on my true crime podcasts (Undisclosed is my current favorite).

 

FOCUS ON STRENGTH

This turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it would be. One of my assignments for an online course I’m taking was to ask others to list my strengths. It was uncomfortable, but also eye-opening. You should try it. Tell everyone that I made you do it. And if they don’t believe you, just send them the link to this post.

 

REFLECT

I didn’t meet this goal even a little bit. I haven’t reflected on my achievements as I said I would. Better luck to me next time.

And since I didn’t meet that goal, I’m going to make it my only small goal for this month. Maybe with a clearer focus, I’ll have a better chance of recognizing my own achievements.
