Summer Rhythms is a free matching game for quarter notes and barred eighth notes. Students match summer pictures and words to the rhythm that fits them. You can use it in centers, with the whole group, with early finishers, or as a quick rhythm assessment.

What’s included

  • 32 picture and word cards: 16 for quarter notes and 16 for barred eighth notes
  • Black-and-white copies of the cards for easy printing
  • 2 matching mats (1 color, 1 black and white)
  • Standard and stick notation versions
  • Directions for centers, whole-group play, and formative assessment
