Composing with Rhythms: Half Note – music composition – rhythm lesson

This guided composition activity helps students in grades 3–5 compose with quarter notes, barred eighth notes, and half notes. Students warm up with body percussion, play the Poison Pattern game, read rhythms in stick and standard notation, and then use rhythm cards to compose and write down their own piece.
